FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I schedule a video conference?
First you need to register via the registration page. After you receive your login information, you can log in,
search the calendars for available times, and fill out the reservation request.

Why can't I schedule a video conference for today (same day)?
We have to make sure the technical staff is available and we need time to set up each conference.
If you have a critical need to use the system the same day, please email us with your request.
There is an extra fee of $25.00/hour for same day services and is available to previous users only.

Is the video conferece service available weekends and nights?
We currently offer video conferencing during regular business hours only.
Our regular hours are Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm.
The Innovation Studios observes all
ETSU holidays and administrative closings.
If you have a critical need to use the service after-hours, please email us with your request.
There is an extra fee of $25.00/hour for after-hours services and is available to previous users only.

Can I use a Mac with your video conference system?
At this time, the system is compatible with Windows only.
If you use Parallels desktop, you may be able to use the service but it is not guaranteed.

Does the video conference system support Windows Vista?
Yes, however, special care is still required with audio and video peripherals,
some of which may or may not have device drivers for Vista. Because of
potential hardware compatibility issues, we recommend that users limit peripheral devices to those
listed on our resources page when planning their conference.

How secure is my conference?
We use SSL3 and TLS, which are encryption standards used to secure the communication
between two computers, typically a client and server. SSL3 and TLS are IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) standards adopted industry-wide for online services. SSL3 and TLS are commonly used when communicating over the Internet, but sometimes implemented when communicating on private networks as well.

What is a concurrent user?
Concurrent user is an industry standard term that refers to the number of users
(or TCP/IP connections) attached to an application or web service at any one time.
For example, if you have 15 people in one room that has one pc connected to our service,
that is considered one user.

Do you rent or loan out equipment to use off-site?
We do not rent or loan out equipment for off-site use.

Can I rent the room even if I don't want to use the video conferencing service?
Yes! We charge $50 for half a day (4 hours) and $100 for a full day (8 hours) with a half day minimum.
We also have two additional rooms that we rent. Please email us for specifics.

Can I schedule a demo of the video conference service to see if it will suit my needs?
Yes. This can be done one of two ways:
1) You can come into the Innovation Lab and use the video conference service to connect to one other person.
2) You can use a remote location to connect to the video conference service.
Both options for demo conferences will be time limited and will be joined by one of our staff members.

What type of payments do you accept?
We accept cash, Paypal and checks. Payment with check or cash must be made the day of the conference. Those using Paypal must have a verified account and will be emailed an invoice. Paypal payments must be received within 3 business days. There will be a $30 service charge on all returned payments.

I am an employee of ETSU and would like to use the system for our department.
The service is available to ETSU departments. However, the same pricing, availability,
and payment requirements still apply.
